Dream. Believe. Achieve

‘Because you believed, it happened’

Kicking off 2023 with another business goal of mine ticked off the list : 500 Etsy sales! I think it’s important as a small business owner to celebrate all wins no matter how big or how small they may seem! Although it took a little longer than ticking it off my 2021-2022 list, it makes me so happy to know that even in these difficult financial times we find ourselves in with a cost of living crisis, people are still connecting with my photography. It really is true what they say, whenever you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance!

So, here is to chasing dreams and ticking off that next business goal!

‘Success is a series of small wins’

Goodbye August, Hello September!

‘And the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep and autumn was awakened’ - Raquel Franco

Goodbye August, Hello September!

I can’t quite believe we are at the beginning of a new month and a new season already! Where did Summer 2021 go?!  I don’t know about you, but at times it feels like we are still in that crazy non-existent March 2020 timezone!  It’s funny how a lack of travel and holidaying somewhere foreign throws you off a sense of time like that.  I can’t wait for that first proper getaway and ticking off those months / seasons the right way…. maybe then I will get used to the fact that we are in Autumn 2021 and not Spring 2020!

Autumn is a favourite season of mine, I always look forward to getting out and about to capture those changing colours and cosy scenes.  There is no better feeling than that first walk with crisp air and rustling leaves.  I’ve made it a goal of mine to visit somewhere new and exciting each year and although last year’s Autumn was basically spent in lockdown, I was finally able to tick Stormont off my list.  This year I am hoping for the Mournes! It’s one that has been on my list for a while now, so what better than an autumn adventure to kick it off!

Daydream Believer

‘Dream Big, Work Hard, Make It Happen’

Back in mid November I reached my 250th Etsy sale and wondered if I could push myself to make that 300th sale before the end of the year. The 3rd of January saw that 300th sale come in and another goal reached. Although nothing is certain right now, it’s important to keep dreaming, keep believing and keep achieving.

A huge thank you to everyone supporting Lavender Line Photography, here’s to that next Etsy goal!

A Sense Of Wanderlust

‘She wasn’t bored, just restless between adventures’ - Atticus

Goodbye April, Hello May! What a strange and very surreal April it has been, a month of glorious sunshine and absolutely nowhere to go to take full advantage of it.  Instead of ticking off the road trips that I have had planned on my Northern Ireland/Ireland bucket list I have been using this lockdown time to go back through my older travel photographs to create a series of wanderlust prints.

It’s an unusual feeling knowing that as of right now there are no plans for future trips, but I have found comfort in going through my travel photos and taking the time to appreciate each and every detail.  It has been a fun process to go back in time and work on the photographs that I feel might appeal to people right now to add a touch of that much needed wanderlust to their home decor.

Below are just some of my new wanderlust prints available for purchase, you might recognise them as some of your favourite holiday locations or a place that is on your bucket list….

Little Landscapes

Last Thursday saw the return of World Book Day, a day in which small children dress up as fictional characters from their favourite books to attend school, something I know I would have loved in my younger days! I think this is a great way to get children involved in not only the art of reading, but the art of creativity. A way to make sure that they aren’t missing out on the key elements of childhood and those important developing stages. With days like World Book Day it allows children to see that there is a life beyond the screen in this gadget era we now live in!

I will admit that I do enjoy my screen time, scrolling through a world of photos on Instagram and Pinterest while also keeping myself up-to-date with all the goings on in the world, but I do draw the line at reading a book from a gadget. To me there is no better feeling than finding a pretty book (yes, a good cover does call out to me) and getting lost in its pages of storytelling, something that I feel a screen cannot deliver!

It is my love of pretty books that led me to the idea of creating a series of bookmarks, to turn some of my favourite photographs into a print size perfect for accessorising those current reads! I’m sure I’m not alone in admitting to using scrap pieces of paper or loose receipts to mark the page instead of a bookmark… something that seems wrong given how quickly we accessorise our gadgets, so why not our books too? ‘Little Landscapes’ are ready and waiting for you and your books on Etsy! Now you can own your favourite Lavender Line Photography print or typography print in a size that doesn’t require wall space or hanging and one that you can keep with you at all times! A perfect literature meets creativity combination!
